The fourth full year
The fourth full year of film club HET KWADE OOG was programmed by Bert Beyens, Danny Devos, Eddy Nolf, Toon Sarens, Pieter Van Bogaert and Anne-Mie Van Kerkhoven (alphabetically).
HET KWADE OOG wants to bring a greater variety to the film offering in Antwerp. Films that enjoy normal distribution in the cinema are not shown; Nor do films that regularly appear on television (unless in an interesting program combination with other films).
HET KWADE OG presents CLASSICS in a new context: NIAGARA (with Marilyn Monroe) versus WILLOW SPRINGS (by Werner Schroeter), for example. CLASSIC versus CONTEMPORARY "EXPERIMENTAL" (ENTUSIASM/VERTOV VS. WAVELENGTH/SNOW). Or in one evening: LENI RIEMENSTAHL and MAYA DEREN.
An EVIL EYE FILM NIGHT is often an EVENT: silent films are sometimes "accompanied" LIVE (Impatience by Charles Dekeukeleire by saxophonist Luc Mishalle; Russian films by Patrick Salinger at the piano).
FILMMAKERS are regularly invited to introduce their films (Frans Zwartjes, Boris Lehman, for example); Invited expert SPEAKERS will introduce films in a very unique way (Stefan Franck, Paul Bottelberghs, André Vandenbunder...).
Last season ended with the spectacular Trash movie evening of Pandemonium, presented by Jack Stevenson.
In the past three and a half years, HET KWADE OOG presented almost 100 different (short and long) films, from 13 countries. HET EVIL EYE shows films in the broadest possible spectrum: feature films in all genres, formal and narrative avant-garde and experiments, documentaries and educational films, etc.
A real PROGRAM SHEET is offered with each performance with interesting information about films and filmmakers.
THE EVIL EYE has quickly become a household name for true film enthusiasts. We would like to invite our regular guests to become a MEMBER of HET EVADE EYE. For only 200 francs you will receive our announcement card for 12 months and you will receive a reduction per performance. It is the only way to keep THE EVIL EYE autonomous and workable.
