Het Kwade Oog: Peter Greenaway, Gerrits and Van Houten

Peter Greenaway is one of the few contemporary filmmakers who happily frolics around in that fertile space between the non-figurative severity of structuralism and the associative nature of narrative film forms. The structure, the meticulous detailing and the frivolous blossoming side notes are optimally balanced.
The short films shown by Het Kwade Oog (made between 1974 and 1980) are situated in that cinematographic 'twilight zone'. Throughout those films we clearly see Greenaway's fascination for that intersecting world between bureaucratic statistics, biographical files with the inexplicable and absurdism filmically perfected. Windows' and 'H is for House' (Greenaway's home movies), 'Dear Phone and Water rackets' (the transition to his more accessible filmis), A Walk Through H' and 'Act of God' are shown. The cinematic debunt work of Peter Van Houten and Paul Gerrits can also be seen. Both will be present during the performance. Starts at 8:00 PM at the AMVC, Minderbroederstraat 22 in Antwerp. (GG).
