Het Kwade Oog

On Tuesday, January 16 at 8 p.m., the film club "Het Kwade Oog" will show short films by the American filmmaker Maya Deren in the meeting room of the Archives and Museum for Flemish Cultural Life at Minderbroedersstraat 22 in Antwerp.
Ten years before Alain Renais and Robbe-Grillet, Maya Deren, pioneer and catalyst of the American avant-garde, created "Meshes of the afternoon", a work in which she distorts and mixes past and present, time and place, reality and fantasy until it looks like a possible or actual continuum. P. Adams Sitney, an authority on American experimental film, coined the term "trance film" for her work and saw her work as the link between the European avant-garde of the 1920s and the American avant-garde of the 1950s and 1960s. information: (03)236.82.59.
